SM42s
from the ArcelorMittal Warszawa fleet
On September 21, 2010, together with my friend
Chris West, we visited ArcelorMittal Warszawa steelworks. This enterprise, which began life as Huta Warszawa in early 1950s, once operated a large fleet
of locomotives. Currently they still have a number of SM42s, although some are
no longer in use and are awaiting sale or scrapping. I took some pictures
during our visit.
SM42-2230
(Fablok 8821/1974) in the
company’s shed.
Withdrawn
SM42-2515 (Fablok 10126/1977). It was sold
to PHU
Lokomotiv private company in 2011 and still remains in use.
SM42-2108
(Fablok 8636/1973) in a rather
poor condition.
SM42-2193
(Fablok 8600/1973) still remains
in use…
…as well as
SM42-2557 (Fablok 10173/1979), which is seen
here on duty, but posing for us.
SM42-2041 (Fablok 8322/1971) has already been withdrawn.
SM42-2551 (Fablok 10282/1979) was not repaired after a
collision with a heavy vehicle and awaits scrapping.
Another photo of
this locomotive, taken on the same occasion. It was scrapped shortly after our
visit.
