Schlawer Kreisbahn was a local railway in Western Pomerania,
consisting of two lines: Schlawe-Jatzingen (today Sławno and Jacinki, opened in
1897) and Natzlaff-Breitenberg (Nacław-Gołogóra,
opened in 1898). Both were built to the 750 mm gauge. In 1934 the Schlawe-Jatzingen line was re-gauged to 1435 mm and two
standard-gauge tank engines for mixed traffic were purchased from Borsig (factory
numbers 14528 and 14529). They were comparatively modern locomotives, running
on superheated steam and featuring the 1-3-1 axle arrangement. Their design
was to some extent based on that of the BR64 Einheitslok (OKl2 in the PKP service). Numbered 1 and 2, they
remained the sole standard-gauge engines operated by the railway (in 1934 two
diesel railcars were purchased from Wumag). In 1940, when Schlawer Kreisbahn was incorporated into Pommersche Landesbahnen
(PLB), they were re-numbered 61H3513
and 62H3513. Both remained in use until 1945, when Pomerania was occupied by
Soviet troops. The entire former Schlawer Kreisbahn was considered war booty: tracks were
lifted and sent eastwards, together with most of the rolling stock. Both
locomotives were, however, handed over to Polish railways. Initially they
were erroneously classed TKi100 (this class included locomotives of the 1-3-0
axle arrangement form various local and private railways) and numbered
TKi100-10 (former 62H3513) and TKi100-16 (former 61H3513). Due to drivers of
only 1200 mm in diameter, they were considered freight engines; in fact, with
PKP they served solely as
switchers. TKi100-10 was later given ‘correct’ designation TKl100-10. It was
assigned to the Lublin depot and written off in November 1956. According to
some sources, it was transferred to the Ostrowiec steelworks;
confirmation, however, is lacking. TKi100-16 was never re-designated;
assigned to the Skarżysko-Kamienna depot, it was
withdrawn in February 1971 and spent many years abandoned in Tarnowskie Góry. Today this
locomotive is on static display at the Railway
Museum in Warsaw. It sports the ‘correct’ designation TKl100-16, never
borne in the PKP service, which
must therefore be considered fictitious. Main technical data
